New Header: Jackie Ormes

Jackie Ormes was the first woman African-American cartoonist!

Our new header shows a photograph of Jackie in her studio and panels from her 1937-38 Courier comic strip, Torchy Brown in “Dixie to Harlem” which starred the smart and glamorous Torchy Brown, a teenager from Mississipi who found fame and fortune singing and dancing in the Cotton Club in New York City.
